Sue Asten
Hello! Welcome to Fieldwood. I consider it an honor and a privilege to have been part of the Fieldwood Team for the last 14 yrs.
I have loved animals as long as I can remember. This was reinforced when we made a move to a farm during my childhood. Our lives were full of cows, horses, goats, cats and, of course, dogs!
Missy was my first dog as an adult; a tough little Lhasa Apso who ran the household until she was 16. I began working in obedience and agility in the early 90s with my second dog, Sadie, a border collie/retriever mix from the Humane Society. She lit up my life for 14 years before she moved on to the next world.

Sadie introduced me to the world of the border collie, and I began attending herding clinics and sheepdog trials as a spectator before ever owning a border collie. I decided that working with dogs and livestock was the place for me. Now, instead of going to malls and movies, I go to sheepdog trials and Tractor Supply stores!
I now share my home and life with four border collies, Duff, Glen and Katy and Brook. The extended family includes a flock of sheep and lambs for the dogs to tend. And, of course, Sam and Ittie, kitty angels, and Missy and Sadie, my heart angels.
In addition to my full-time office job, I use my education degree teaching classes at Fieldwood. I keep busy competing in sheepdog trials with the dogs and tending the sheep. I feel it's very important to expand our knowledge base by attending as many clinics, seminars and classes as possible to continue to find ways of enhancing our canine relationships.
